4th Grade PS.7.4.1- Interpret trends in temperature over time

ESS.8.4.8- Organize weather data into tables or charts to identify trends and patterns


1. Sort and organize weather data cards.
2. Create weather data chart or table.
*Use thermometers to convert degrees Fahrenheit
into degrees Celsius. Record both temperatures on chart.
3. Analyze data to create a line graph of daily Celsius temperatures.
4. Write at least 3 or 4 true statements interpreting trends in temperature over time.

3rd Grade- PS.7.3.1- Classify materials as those
which can reflect, refract, or absorb light

Homework: Write about what you have learned about "Reflection and Refraction" due next Tuesday.

1. Reflection activity with mirrors.
2. Refraction activity with pencils in cup and either smily face underneath or a penny underneath.
3. Create a T chart of materials that reflect and refract light.

1. Use paper thermometer to discuss temperature in Celsius and Fahrenheit. Discuss that each line is two degrees. Practice reading the thermometers.
2. Read air temperature in three different locations. Classroom, Outside, and hallway. Record on thermometers the temperature in both Celsius and Fahrenheit.
3. Use yellow paper to create Celsius temperature wheel of common temperatures.
0 Celsius= ice 32 F
10 Celsius= Chilly day 50 F
21 Celsius= Room temp 70 F
35 Celsius= Hot Day 95 F
37 Celsius = Body Temp 98 F
100 Celsius= water boils 212 F
